CJF Philippines Launches the Guiuan Resilience & Livelihoods Pilot

CJF Philippines Launches the Guiuan Resilience & Livelihoods Pilot

In Guiuan, resilience is not a slogan. It is daily life.

This coastal municipality in Eastern Samar has endured typhoons, coastal erosion, rising food prices, and repeated livelihood disruption. Fishing families repair boats again and again. Small farmers replant after every storm cycle. Parents stretch meals quietly so their children can eat.

Recovery is visible.

But vulnerability remains.

CJF Philippines is launching the Guiuan Resilience & Livelihoods Pilot, a 90–120 day intervention focused on stabilization and long-term community strength.

We are not launching a fundraiser.

We are mobilizing people.

What We Are Doing

This pilot will focus on three barangays in Guiuan and will include:

Food Stabilization for Vulnerable Households

Targeted short-term food support to prevent negative coping and protect family assets.

Livelihood Repair for Fisherfolk and Farmers

Repair and replacement of essential fishing gear, basic farm inputs, and tools that allow families to generate income immediately.

Solar Micro-Irrigation Pilot

Installation of small solar-powered irrigation systems to strengthen crop reliability and reduce climate vulnerability.

Mangrove Rehabilitation Initiative

Community-based mangrove nursery development and coastal planting to restore natural storm protection and fish habitats.

This is humanitarian work anchored in dignity and sustainability.

Why Volunteers Matter

We are seeking volunteers in the following areas:

Field coordination and logistics Agricultural and fisheries technical support Solar installation and basic engineering assistance Environmental and coastal restoration Community documentation and impact reporting Local university students seeking practicum or field experience

If you are based in Eastern Samar, Tacloban, or surrounding provinces, your proximity matters.

If you are a Filipino professional willing to give time, expertise, or field presence, your contribution matters.

If you are part of a church, civic organization, university, or local cooperative, your network matters.

We do not need symbolic support.

We need hands on the ground.

What This Represents

Food security is not charity.

Livelihood restoration is not optics.

Mangrove planting is not aesthetics.

This is stabilization.

This is resilience.

This is dignity.

CJF Philippines is committing to action in Guiuan now.

If you are ready to serve, collaborate, or deploy expertise, contact CJF Philippines through our official channels and indicate your area of skill and availability.

We are building strength where it matters most.

Guiuan does not need applause.

It needs partnership.

And we are ready.
