With over a decade of experience in community development, sustainable agriculture, and cultural preservation, Maria Lourdes Santos leads The Courtney Jordan Foundation’s mission to uplift Ifugao farmers and protect the Banaue Rice Terraces.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Maria’s passion for empowering rural communities stems from her deep-rooted appreciation for indigenous traditions and environmental sustainability. She has worked extensively with local farmers, government agencies, and international NGOs, spearheading programs that provide training in climate-resilient farming, economic support, and eco-tourism development.

Under her leadership, the foundation has launched initiatives that enhance food security, improve livelihoods, and promote heritage conservation—ensuring that the next generation of Ifugao farmers can continue their ancestors’ legacy.

Maria is a strong advocate for grassroots leadership and women’s empowerment in agriculture. She believes that by investing in farmers, we invest in the future of the Philippines.
